Blood Father Review

Blood Father was directed by Jean-François Richet and stars Mel Gibson as Link, an ex-con who is put in a very difficult situation when his estranged daughter Lydia (Erin Moriarty) shows up needing protection from drug dealers. I saw this movie when it originally came out last August and was really blown away by how fun this movie was. It wasn't given a wide theatrical release and didn't have a lot of support, which in my opinion is sad. This was one of my favorite action movies of 2016. Blood Father is super gritty and has a lot of intense scenes. If you're wanting to watch a strong and fun actions movie, I highly recommend Blood Father . This movie had a lot to offer: 1. Style - I loved the style of this movie, it was a lot grittier than some of the action movies I saw last year. It made a point to be a really practical and realistic in it's direction. I loved that about this movie. Much like movies like John Wick, this is a movie that you could t...

Baby Driver Review *SPOILER FREE*

Baby Driver was Directed by Edgar Wright and stars Ansel Elgort as an extremely accomplished and talented get away driver named Baby who is working to pay off a debt to a crime boss named Doc played by Kevin Spacey. Baby is forced to partner with several different criminals ( Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal and Eiza Gonzalez )  to perform these heist, while attempting to develop a personal relationship with Debora ( Lily James ) a waitress he met at his favorite diner. If you ask me what one of my favorite trilogies of all time is, it's the Cornetto Trilogy . The Cornetto Trilogy is funny, creative and expertly direct by Edgar Wright. I was a humongous fan of Scott Pilgrim vs the World and so I was extremely excited to watch Baby Driver . I was not disappointed at all. This entire movie was a blast from start to finish while being excellently directed and acted. I was floored by the spectacle that this movie was. It's a true masterpiece in almost every aspec...

Transformers The Last Knight Review *SPOILER FREE*

Transformers The Last Night is the fifth transformers movie we have gotten from director Michael Bay, and to be honest not much has changed. I enjoyed the first Transformers movie quite a bit! I had a lot of fun with it and it holds sentimental value for me as I got to be on set and see the behind the scenes of the movie. Going into this movie, I had no expectations. The Transformers movies have gotten really bad in recent years and each one grows progressively longer and is essentially the same exact movie. That's what we got with The Last Knight . More of the same. There were big battles, tons of explosions and useless characters and plots. That being said, it isn't the worst one in the franchise. That title goes to Revenge of the Fallen . Michael Bay can do some things right: 1. Production - I don't care who you are, you have to give credit where credit is due and Michael Bay can make a fun and huge production. He can command the screen and his team...

The Book of Henry Review

The Book of Henry is the emotional and surprisingly fun movie directed by Collin Trevorrow. I saw this movie after driving an hour away to find a theater that was showing it, as my hometown was not showing this movie. I have read several reviews for this movie and it was called "the best bad movie of the summer" I honestly don't get that. This movie was really well acted and had some really emotional moments. I went into this movie with an open mind and hopeful heart as I really enjoy Naomi Watts, Jacob Tremblay and Collin Trevorrow as a director after his movie Saftey Not Guaranteed . I left the theater with a big smile on my face, feeling a sense of peace after the final credits rolled on screen. That made me pretty happy. This is a different film, with a wide sense of adventure and creativity. If you're not familiar with the plot of this movie, it is as follows. Henry ( Jaeden Lieberher ) is 11 year old genius son of Susan ( Naomi Watts )  and big brother of ...

47 Meters Down Review

47 Meters Down is the latest thriller movie directed by Johannes Roberts who directed the extremely disappointing The Other Side of the Door . 47 Meters Down stars Claire Holt and Mandy Moore as sisters who decide to go shark watching when the wench holding their cage breaks and they are dropped 47 meters down and how to figure out how to survive at the bottom of the ocean, while they also have to stay safe from sharks. I was so utterly disappointed with how stupid this film was. It was a movie that has a great premise and if handled correctly could've been amazing. Unfortunately, it was uncomfortably bad and made a ton of pretty useless decisions. Let's take a look at what was okay: 1. Some intense sequences - This movie was by no means was 100% unwatchable. In fact it had some pretty intense sequences that gave me goosebumps. The idea of being lost deep in the ocean with only a few hours to figure out how to survive is extremely intense, so this movie was b...

Cars 3 Review

Cars 3 was written and directed by Brian Fee and is the story of Lighting McQueen's ( Owen Wilson ) journey to prove to the world that he was and still is the best race car in the world. Going into Cars 3 I didn't really know what to expect. I was a fan of the first Cars , but I don't think it is the best Pixar has to offer. I didn't like Cars 2 .. but I don't think any one really does. I have to say I, after leaving the theater last night I was kind of surprised. Cars 3 is easily one of the most comfortable movies I have ever watched. It is just right in the middle and a pretty decent movie. Let's take a look at what I like about this movie: 1. The story- The story to this movie is simple, yet compelling. It isn't too much to handle or to observe. I think even if you miss a scene or two you're not too far gone. Pixar played it safe here, and it paid off for them. Watching Lighting McQueen rediscover who he is as a racer and watchin...

It Comes At Night Review

It Comes At Night is the story of  six different people and their story of survival after a tragic event begins to diminish the worlds population. It Comes At Night was written and directed by Trey Edward Shults and stars Joel Edgerton, Christopher Abbott, Carmen Ejogo, Riley Keough, Griffin Faulkner and Kelvin Harrison Jr.  I was very excited for this movie after seeing all of the trailers and marketing for this film. I was expecting and exciting and gripping thriller. One that would keep me on my toes and one have a strong sense of excitement. It's safe to say.. I was wrong, but in the best possible way. It Comes At Night was absolutely nothing like I thought it was going to be and that was honestly the best part about it. It was an unconventional and a gigantic risk, and that is what I think we need more of. This movie was genuinely creepy and had a lot of scenes that caused the hair on the back of my neck to stand up. I was enthralled in every scene of this movi...

The Mummy Movie Review

The Mummy is the latest reboot in the Hollywood circuit in an attempt to remake something that didn't need remade as the first ones were perfectly fine. This movie was directed by Alex Kurtzman and stars Tom Cruise, Russell Crow, Jake Johnson, Annabelle Wallis and Sophia Boutella . I enjoyed the previous Mummy movies, quite a bit. Now, those movies were by no means terrific and to be honest they were pretty dumb but they are great guilty pleasure movies. I can remember watching Brendan Fraiser battling evil forces for the first time on TV as a kid. I love those films, so when this one was coming out, I am going to be honest... I was a little biased already. However, I decided to take a deep breath and give The Mummy a strong chance. It was the most mediocre thing I have ever sat through. Let's take a look at the positives: 1. Fun - There were some really fun and really awesome scenes and I had a good time with them. Tom Cruise came in and did what he did best and mad...

Wonder Woman Review *SPOILER FREE*

Wonder Woman was directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince and is the story of how Wonder Woman left her home on the Amazonian Island to engage in WWI in an attempt to bring down the God of War, Ares. I was extremely excited to watch Wonder Woman . I am among the few who enjoyed Batman V Superman and am one of the few who though Man of Steel had some redeeming qualities. Now, I know I am a pretty big DC fan boy, but I am pretty objective. I admit that neither of those movies were that great. I am pleased to tell you that this is not the case with Wonder Woman. I thought Wonder Woman was one of the greatest breathes of fresh air we've had in recent years. I fell in love with this movie and I honestly cannot wait to go see it again and then buy the Blu-Ray upon it's release. Let's get in to a few things that worked for me: 1. Patty Jenkins - Now, I knew virtually nothing about her film career, as did most. This was one of the greatest directorial p...
