The Sea Beast Review

Summary: The Sea Beast was directed by Chris Williams (Big Hero 6) and stars Karl Urban as legendary sea monster hunter, Jacob Holland. After a chance encounter with strong-willed, Maisie Brumble (Zaris-Angel Hator), Jacob’s life is changed forever.

The Sea Beast is a thrilling new adventure that blends monster-chasing with the discovery of new worlds, all while exploring complex themes that keep the viewer captivated for nearly its entire two-hour runtime. Netflix’s latest animated original hits a home run, combining the best elements of modern animation. With a perfect balance of action, comedy, storytelling, and heart, The Sea Beast stands out as a force to be reckoned with among recent animated releases.

It’s clear that one of director Chris Williams' primary goals was to create a vast, immersive world—and he delivered. The Sea Beast is both wildly imaginative and comfortingly familiar at the same time. Within just 20 minutes, you feel as though you’ve known the characters for a lifetime. This is thanks in part to the stellar voice acting and well-written script, which provides seamless, digestible exposition through perfectly crafted introductions to each character's motives. Williams wastes no time pulling the audience into the action, establishing a tone that remains consistent throughout the entire film.

Visually stunning, The Sea Beast shines in its action sequences. Watching pirates battle colossal sea monsters has never been so entertaining. Armed with an array of weapons, these monster hunters tackle their leviathan-sized challenges with little difficulty. Williams infuses the animation with a sense of grit, ensuring that each battle between hunters and monsters carries real consequences—whether good or bad. The knowledge that every action sequence impacts the story directly raises the stakes, making the film far more engaging than the typical animated adventure.

While the action is exhilarating, the heart of The Sea Beast lies in the relationship between Jacob and Maisie. Though somewhat predictable in its trajectory, the chemistry between the two leads is so enjoyable that the simplicity of the storyline becomes easy to overlook. Their bond, a perfect blend of bickering and heartfelt moments, feels genuine, allowing the father-daughter-like dynamic to translate believably from an animated world filled with 100-foot monsters to the real world.

The Sea Beast shares undeniable similarities with films like How To Train Your Dragon, creating a sense of predictability in some of the major plot points. However, even when the story beats are expected, the journey remains highly enjoyable. Watching the characters grow and reach their destinations is satisfying, even if those destinations are already known.

Overall, The Sea Beast is an exceptional family movie that demonstrates the vast potential of animation. With spectacular action, strong on-screen relationships, and a fun score, it’s a film that's definitely worth watching.

It Comes At Night Review

It Comes At Night is the story of  six different people and their story of survival after a tragic event begins to diminish the worlds population. It Comes At Night was written and directed by Trey Edward Shults and stars Joel Edgerton, Christopher Abbott, Carmen Ejogo, Riley Keough, Griffin Faulkner and Kelvin Harrison Jr.  I was very excited for this movie after seeing all of the trailers and marketing for this film. I was expecting and exciting and gripping thriller. One that would keep me on my toes and one have a strong sense of excitement. It's safe to say.. I was wrong, but in the best possible way. It Comes At Night was absolutely nothing like I thought it was going to be and that was honestly the best part about it. It was an unconventional and a gigantic risk, and that is what I think we need more of. This movie was genuinely creepy and had a lot of scenes that caused the hair on the back of my neck to stand up. I was enthralled in every scene of this movi...

I am a huge Spider-Man fan, I loved the first two Sam Raimi films. Spider-Man 2 being one of the most important films I have seen. It was after Spider-Man 2 I wanted to start watching movies and learning as much as I could. So this was a movie that I was really excited to see but it had a lot of expectations to meet in my eyes. After seeing this movie, most of my expectations were met but a few were not. This was a really fun movie and one that I enjoyed a lot. I just found this movie to be a little underwhelming. Zendaya. It is the newest marvel film, and their first chance to make a Spider-Man movie. It takes place a few months after the events off But first let's take a look at the positives: 1. Tone - This was a true Spider-Man movie ...

Dunkirk Review

Dunkirk was directed by Christopher Nolan and was the dramatic depiction of the Battle of Dunkirk. It stars a wide variety of actors like Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Fionn Whitehead, Jack Lowden, Harry Styles and Cillian Murphy. I was really excited to see Dunkirk , I am a fan of war movies and I think Nolan is a terrific director. After walking out of Dunkirk , I was really impressed. The whole premise of this movie is not what I thought it would be. I am used to getting the stereotypical war movie, Dunkirk was anything but that. It was innovative and gripping and chose to tell a really compelling story in the most creative way. This was a visual masterpiece. Let's look at the best parts: 1. The Production - This movie was unbelievably real in it's production. Nolan used as many practical effects as he could. It was constructed with real planes, real boats and real locations. Nolan didn't cut any corners in his portrayal of this battle. I was just...
