Coco Review

Coco was directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina. Coco stars Anthony Gonzalez as Miguel, an aspiring musician confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, who enters the Land of the Dead to work out the mystery. Going into Coco , I was very excited. I am a fan of Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3) and Pixar in general. I thought Coco looked fresh and like an amazingly enjoyable movie. I left Coco with a smile on my face. This movie was one of the most refreshing movies I have seen in a long time. I was blown away by how wonderful this movie looked. It was a movie that was perfect example of how an animated movies can be compelling and create wonderful stories that you engage you no matter your age. Let's take a look at what worked.  1. Animation - The animation of Coco was perfect. It didn't look like anything was out of place. It was the best looking animation I have seen in any movie. The color grading of this film was expertly crafted with the t...

Justice League Review

Justice League was directed by Zack Snyder and is the newest film in the unofficially named DC Extended Universe. It follows Batman as he unites the members of the Justice League to fight against the threat of Steppenwolf. If you followed this movie's production, it was no secret that it had a lot of issues behind the screen. It underwent massive re-shoots directed by Joss Whedon after the tragic death of Zack Snyder's daughter pulled him away from the film. Henry Cavill had a CGI upper lip due to Paramount not allowing him to shave due to his role in Mission Impossible 6. Warner Brothers issued a mandatory cut in run time to keep the movie under two hours. Virtually if it could've gone wrong on set, it did. So I tried to keep that in mind going into this film. A lot of issues that happened weren't really the fault of those making this film. It was just really terrible timing. All that being said, it was still a film and one that I wanted to watch carefully and ...

Murder on the Orient Express Review

Murder on the Orient Express was directed by and starred Kenneth Branagh and is the adaptation of the 1934 Agatha Christie novel. I haven't seen any previous adaptations of Murder on the Orient Express so I didn't really know what to expect with this movie. I have seen previous Branagh films though and so I had some expectations of what the film should look and feel like. Leaving the theater I was pretty disappointed. I thought it would be very different than the film we got. It was marketed as this creative and clever murder mystery and that really isn't what this movie turned out to be. In all honesty in was pretty lack luster and I was never fully invested in the story that was being told. Murder on the Orient Express never capitalized on the best moments it had. Let's take a look at some of the best moments: 1. Direction- Kenneth Branagh worked really hard on this film. It was obvious with the look of this and style. The cinematography was creativ...

Thor: Ragnarok Review

Thor: Ragnarok was directed by Taika Waititi, the director behind What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. It follows Thor as he  finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor's quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world   and the Asgardian civilization. Headed into Thor: Ragnarok I was pretty excitied, I was a fan of both previous Thor's and a fan of Taika Waitit's work. I thought both What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt For the Wilderpeople were extremely funny and overlooked. Last night as I left the t heater  I left with the biggest smile on face. Thor: Ragnarok was easily the most refreshing comic book movie made today. I immediately said that Thor: Ragnarok is my favorite Marvel movie. Taika Waititi did something amazing with this movie and made it truly unlike any other Marvel movie out ther...
