Official Synopsis: Doctor Sleep follows the life of adult Danny Torrence, 40+ years after the events of Kubrick's film The Shining . Dan Torrence (Ewan McGregor) has found himself without much vision for his life, having fallen victim to substance abuse problems. Tormented by the ghosts of his past (literally and figuratively), Dan floats around in life avoiding a gift he has called "the shine" picking fights and trying to make it through the day. Dan eventually finds solace in a caring man, Billy (Cliff Curtis) who helps set Dan on the right path. Several years pass and Dan finds himself working as an orderly at an elder care facility, where he gains the name "Doctor Sleep" for his ability to comfort dying patients. During this time Dan connects with an individual named, Abra (Kyliegh Curran). A young teenage girl whom he communicates with through "the shine."
